Kolkata-Sagar Road Port, also known as Sagar Port, is a proposed deep-water port located near the confluence of the Hooghly River and the Bay of Bengal, close to Sagar Island in West Bengal. The port aims to alleviate the draft limitations faced by the Kolkata and Haldia ports by providing deep-water berths capable of handling larger vessels. This port is expected to handle a diverse range of cargo, including bulk commodities, containers, and liquid cargo, serving as a key maritime hub for eastern India. Once operational, Kolkata-Sagar Road Port will significantly boost the region's trade capacity and enhance connectivity with international shipping routes.
